How this website handles personal information.
This notice explains the main ways HQ Law Limited may use personal information submitted through this website. It should be read alongside any more detailed privacy information provided when you become a client.
Business development and B2B direct marketing
HQ Law may identify business contacts at companies, limited liability partnerships and other corporate organisations from publicly available professional and business sources, such as company websites, Companies House, professional profiles, industry directories and other legitimate business-development sources.
We may use a business contact's name, role, employer, business email address and related professional information to send relevant information about HQ Law's legal services. Where this information is personal data, we normally rely on our legitimate interests in developing our business and communicating relevant legal services to organisations that may reasonably have an interest in them, after considering necessity and the individual's rights and interests.
We do not use this basis to send unsolicited marketing email to sole traders or other individual subscribers where PECR requires consent, unless an applicable consent or soft opt-in condition is satisfied. If we are unsure whether a recipient is a corporate subscriber, we treat the contact as an individual subscriber for this purpose.
You have an absolute right to object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing. You can object or unsubscribe at any time by replying to the marketing email or contacting reception@hqlaw.co.uk. We keep the minimum information necessary on a suppression list so that we can respect the request and avoid contacting you again for direct marketing.
We do not sell business contact information. We may use service providers acting on our instructions where necessary to operate our email, hosting, CRM or IT systems. We keep business-development information only for as long as it remains relevant and appropriate, subject to suppression information being retained as necessary to honour opt-out requests.
Who is responsible for your data?
HQ Law Limited, company no. 10070811, is the data controller for personal information it processes in connection with this website and legal enquiries. Contact: chris@hqlaw.co.uk; Westbrook Lea, Bognor Road, Broadbridge Heath, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 3PT.
Information we may collect
If you contact us, we may collect your name, employer or organisation, contact details, names of other parties, information about the dispute and any information you choose to provide. We may also receive basic technical information generated by the hosting service for security and operational purposes.
Why we use it
- To respond to enquiries and consider whether HQ Law can act.
- To perform conflict and risk checks.
- To take steps at your request before entering into a contract for legal services.
- To comply with legal, regulatory and professional obligations.
- To protect the firm’s legitimate interests, systems and legal rights.
Netlify form submissions
This build uses Netlify Forms for the website enquiry form. Form data may therefore be processed by Netlify as the website hosting/form service provider. Before launch, HQ Law should configure access, retention and email-notification settings in its Netlify account and review Netlify’s data-processing terms.
PIB Employee Benefits introduction enquiries
If you ask HQ Law to contact you about an introduction to PIB Employee Benefits, we use the contact and business details you submit to deal with that request. We do not pass your details to PIB merely because you submit the form. Before an introduction is made, we confirm the introduction and the relevant referral-payment or commission disclosure with you.
Where you give the required consent, HQ Law may share the agreed contact and business information with PIB Employee Benefits Limited for the purpose of the requested introduction. Submitting the form does not authorise disclosure of confidential information about your legal affairs; any such disclosure would require separate consideration and permission.
SRA digital badge
This website embeds the Solicitors Regulation Authority digital badge supplied through Yoshki. The badge is loaded from cdn.yoshki.com so that the firm’s regulated status can be verified dynamically rather than by displaying a static logo. Loading or using the badge may involve the transfer of limited technical information to that third-party service. Read the SRA information about the clickable logo
Cookies and analytics
This version of the website does not install Google Analytics, advertising pixels or other non-essential analytics scripts by default. If analytics or marketing technologies are added later, the privacy and cookie information should be updated and any required consent mechanism implemented before those technologies are enabled.
How long we keep information
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet legal, regulatory, insurance and record-keeping requirements. Retention periods may differ depending on whether an enquiry becomes a client matter.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict use of your information, object to certain processing, or request portability. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Security and confidential information
Do not send highly sensitive or extensive confidential material through the initial web form. Submission of information does not create a solicitor-client relationship, and HQ Law may need to complete conflict and onboarding checks before it can receive detailed confidential instructions.
Email briefing
If you actively sign up to the HQ Law Construction Disputes Briefing, the site collects the contact details you submit and a record of your marketing consent. Those details are used to send the briefing and related construction-disputes updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe method in an email or by contacting chris@hqlaw.co.uk.
The briefing form is configured to use Netlify Forms when the site is deployed on Netlify. HQ Law should review Netlify’s data-processing settings and retention configuration before public launch.
